How I work
I read biology as a set of systems that talk to each other rather than a list of findings to be checked off. Most testing is built to find disease, which means it can be entirely accurate and still miss what you are describing, because what you are describing is a pattern in how your body is regulating itself.
I have a BSc Joint Honours in Nutrition and Psychology from Newcastle University (2021), and have since observed how the same symptom gets filed under two different departments, depending on who saw it first. Tired and anxious go one way, tired and bloated go the other. However, it was the same person for both.
I have worked as assistant nutritionist to the elite team at Saracens rugby for their pre-season. I have been the nutritionist on a training programme for busy professionals, and a private menopause nutritionist. I worked at Equilibrium Labs, a liver health diagnostics and therapeutics biotech start-up, building the investor case for early-stage science. Also in an innovation consultancy, helping medical, food and health start-ups and their investors secure funding for innovative projects. Angel investing in food and health brands and co-founding a network for women in innovation put me in rooms with a lot of women who were, by any measure, doing well.
This is where I watched women with capital, access and no shortage of intelligence, still moving between specialists for years. Private GP, then endocrinology, then a gut clinic, then a functional practitioner with a long supplement list. Each one looked at their own specialism but no one looked at the system. Tests came back normal so they were told nothing was wrong or hormonal issues were offered as the explanation so nothing was resolved.
I found that strange and still do. If symptoms persist and every test is normal, the problem is not usually the test, it is the question presented.
So I trained properly and built what I could not find for them. I am a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr, UKVRN).
Registration
Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) with the Association for Nutrition, on the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists. Registration requires degree-level training in nutrition science, a commitment to the Association’s standards of ethics, conduct and performance, and continuing professional development. Anyone can search the register.
How I work with evidence
Every recommendation carries a mechanism. Where the evidence is thin I will say so. A protocol is written so your GP can read and check it.
What I do not do
I sell no supplements. I sell no tests. There are no programmes and no membership. There are no discovery calls. Any testing is arranged at cost, with no margin. Where a finding belongs with a doctor, I say so.
Where a reading is not mine to give
I read patterns of regulation. I do not diagnose, treat or manage a condition. If an answer belongs with a doctor first, I will say so.
